Former Fat Girl of the Week

Former Fat Girl of the Week is a place for us to come to celebrate and learn from the success and achievements of one another. Former Fat Girls of the Week are regular women like you and me, living normal lives, but are extraordinarily inspirational. This is their time to shine, and I hope you are as inspired by them as I am.

Name: Tigerlilly

Age: 31

Occupation: Stay at Home Mom

How often do you exercise?
I try to get in at least 30 minutes of cardio a day (even if its just a walk around the block) . A good week for me would include 3-5 days of lifting added on!

What's your favorite workout?
I love Tae Bo. Mostly because an hour flys by and in no time you find yourself sweaty, wheezing and sore! LOL

What 5 food items are "must haves" in your kitchen?

  • eggs
  • soy milk
  • frozen fruit
  • bananas
  • tuna fish

What motivates you to do what you do?
Being a mother is always motivation to be a better person. Having already survived cancer, I thought it would be silly to lose my life to obesity.

What is your favorite inspiration or motivational quote?
"I took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference" R. Frost

How do you find balance in your life?
For me, balance comes when I am at peace with myself... and that is tied in with my faith. God plays a big part in my life everyday.

Last 5 songs listened to you on your iPod:

  • Fighter by Christina Aguilara
  • Shakin Hands by Nickelback
  • Buena Vista Social Club
  • Candyman by Christina Aguilara
  • Hips Dont Lie by Shakira

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Since the beginning of this journey I have tried to accomplish something every day. Whether its to finish a hard workout DVD or get an extra mile in on my run.... I think I would say my greatest accomplishment so far is that I am still going strong. I have not given up on myself and I feel good about everything I have accomplished so far!

What do you love most about your body?
This may sound funny, but ever since I've lost a good portion of the weight, I've noticed my neck is so much longer. I look in the mirror and see a strong, thin neck that comes down and meets two collar bones that weren't there before!! Losing the weight is like unearthing a heavenly body that's been buried for centuries and little by little the dirt falls off and an amazing sight begins to appear. Once you start seeing it happen, you dont want it to stop!

Are you working towards a particular goal we can support you in?
I am signed up for my first half marathon in January 2010!! I will start my training in August... I have no doubt it will be the hardest 5 months of my life... but I am SO looking forward to crossing that finish line!

Christina - you are an amazing woman! You have overcome so much, and still continue to shine! Your girls are going to grow up into amazingly strong and independent young ladies, and we are all so proud of you!

Great Job tigerlilly! That's truly inspiring. Man - I'm reading this, and I'm thinking - how cool, how cool to be able to share the wonderful end result, the great testimony of successful weight loss on my own. I'm in the process - can't wait til I start reaching points like that though. Thanks for having this blog Michelle, it's encouraging.
