Hi, I'm Michelle, a former fat girl. I'm also a food addict. I've lost 115 lbs since September 2008 following a clean eating diet. In July 2009, I achieved a dream of becoming a triathlete, and in August 2009, I become one of those crazy long distance running lovers I always thought were completely crazy after I crossed the finish line of my first half-marathon.
Some people think losing 100 lbs means I've been "cured". That is far from the truth. I still struggle daily with temptations and cravings. Most of the time I'm strong and keep pushing towards a healthier life. But sometimes, I cave, and answer the siren song of food. It's all about balance. Knowing when to cave in, knowing I'm not a failure if I do.
I still have work to do before I reach my goal, but this is no longer a race for me. As long as I make every day better than the last, I'm a success!

So with the forced down time upon me, my girl and I decided to have a mini mani/pedi party last night after WW. Imagine my complete shock and surprise at seeing my bruised toe! Apparently this happened during my half-marathon 2 weeks ago! My foot was a little sore after the run - but so was everything else, so I didn't really think to take off my nail polish and check my toes. I was a bit horrified at first, then grossed out. Now, it's a badge of honor! LOL
I know my shoes fit correctly - this is a product of the wrong socks and a long-ish toenail. I'm going to experiment to fit the right socks and make sure I have a pedi BEFORE my next half-marathon :)
Hope that toes gets better so you can hit the road again...I can just imagine how frustrated you are feeling....never mind I did an extra 20 mins of running for you today!!!!!! ;)
After I ran the Disney half I had the worst blisters on both of my feet. I found the Smart wool socks at my running store and won't use anything else when I race. Since wearing them I have not had any foot problems.
Darn right it's a badge of honor!! I would post a pic of my feet, but then I'd have to kill ya! Naw, I've lost two nails, have another two that are on the verge and have decided to opt out of toenail polish until my feet r healed - if that ever happens! I've also gotten 1/2 size larger shoe ... apparently that was the culprit in my case ; ) Seems to have helped thus far. Here's to healing toes of HONOR!!!
that badge of honor is the mark of a true athlete!!,hate to see that its a bit bothersome for you,but am very proud of you at the same time! (NOT for having a bruised toe,but for ALL that you do and have accopmlished-i really do think you are a superwoman and you are such an inspiration!!!!)
hope you heal up soon!!
The toe nail will grow back, I promise!!! What an accomplishment!!
Dee
I have that on one of my toes too. It grows out eventually! Great job earning it!
You have sure nice feet...even WITH a black toenail! Badge of honor indeed!
